Boards & Committees

Recognizing that it takes many hearts to achieve a shared vision, our Church operates under the guidance and with the assistance of several boards and committees. Each Board and Committee is comprised of  one church member who serves as the Chair, and other church members who are elected to serve a three year term. The number of committee members is dictated by our Church Constitution, and prospective members are voted in to their prospective Board or Committee at our annual congregational meeting, held on the second Sunday in January.

Below is a list of our Boards and Committees, as well as a short generalization of some of their goals and objectives.

The Board of Deacons

The Board of Deacons is comprised of Chair Robert Stowe as well as six church members who oversee the general religious and spiritual direction of our congregation. The Deacons work closely with the Pastor to assist and direct such things as the order of worship on Sunday mornings, the implementation of Communion on Communion Sunday, and the welcoming of new members into our congregation.

The Board of Christian Education

The Board of Christian Education is Chaired by Kathy Kimber and comprised of eight other members. This Board oversees the Spiritual Education aspect of our church, including but not limited to our Sunday School program, Bible Study, Youth Group, and many other educational experiences relating to our faith (Book clubs, visits to the Abbey of the Genessee and Quiet Meadows, etc.).

The Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees, Co-Chaired by Bill Van Dusen and Jim Apolito, care for the building and grounds of our Church and Parsonage. From changing light bulbs to painting walls and the completion of our Church Street Project making the Church Street entrance more accessible and aesthetically pleasing, this nine member committee maintains a safe, beautiful and well cared for facility.

The Board of Christian Stewardship

Chaired by Bob Bacon, the Board of Christian Stewardship organizes and assists with the financial gifts we give as a Church, such as heading up our local church’s contribution to greater UCC missions such as Neighbors in Need, One Great Hour of Sharing and the UCC Covenant Share. The Board and its five members also assist the Church Financial Officers with Pledge Drives as needed.

The Board of Community Life

The eight members and Chair Helen Johnson team together to head up events such as the Church-wide Birthday Bash, the Halloween Party, our annual Blanket and Tool drive, and many other church-wide events. This board also volunteers their time to ensure that our fellowship hour following Church service is supplied with coffee and refreshments, as well as members to serve and clean up.

Endowment Committee

The Endowment Committee is four members who assist the Financial Officers with matters considering Benevolence and other Gifts given to our Church.

Financial Committee

The Financial Committee is comprised of a member of the Board of Deacons, The Board of Trustees, The Board of Christian Stewardship, the Memorial Committee, our Financial Secretary and our Church Treasurer. The Committee oversees the finances of our Church.

Flower Committee

Our Flower Committee is Chaired by Donna Fulmer, who oversees the decoration of the Altar on Sunday mornings, as well as the caring and maintenance of the plant life in our Church.
